Windows/Unix/Linux Administrator Job Title: Windows/Linux/Unix Servers Administrator (2 positions available) Location: Montreal, QB (downtown) Type: Permanent, full time position Salary: Commensurate with experience Bilingual: Fluency in both English and French is a must have requirement for this position Our client is seeking the services of an experience Windows/Linux/Unix server Administrator. The successful candidate for this role will have in depth working knowledge of Windows, Unix, Linux operating systems as well as VMware and Storage. The ability to work with a team in a global environment is necessary for this individual’s success in achieving defined objectives. Responsibilities Include: -Provide leadership on various technological fronts by innovating within the perimeters of the company’s policies and procedures. -Provide technical expertise in the use of Windows, Unix/Linux, NetApp NAS and VMware technology platforms and be accountable for the overall performance and security of the enterprise’s environment. -Work closely with clients and other teams (systems programmers, application developers, etc) to define and resolve performance and/or capacity issues—helping to transform business requirements into reliable and resilient infrastructure. Facilitate collection of statistical data related performance and capacity monitoring as well as proactive failure management. -Develop, enforce and conform to various standards to protect company assets from operational risks and improve our efficiency (change and release management, security standards, standards derived from industry best practices, etc) -Participate to support to the business lines for their application as it relates to our surrounding policies and standards. This also involves partnering with business line and other IT teams to develop, implement, secure and support business systems/applications/application platform. -Documentation - Develop system documentation for new and existing systems - Update existing document when system and components are updated change - Update DRP documentation on a regular basis Skills and Technical Knowledge -Education: BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering -Certifications in Windows and/or Unix/Linux systems -NetApp/OnTap Certification -Client focused, able to work independently while interacting across different teams to accomplish projects and must be detail oriented -Ability to interact with other business lines managers, technical staff and senior managers -Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral -Must be a team player and client focused -Must be able to multi-task between projects -Must be able to work in a global and international environment -Must have good documentation skills -At least 10 years of solid experience working with Microsoft Core Technologies (Active Directory, DFS, Clustering, IIS, DHCP, DNS, etc.) -Good knowledge of SQL Server Strong troubleshooting skills with Linux/Unix Systems -In depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite and its utilities -Strong experience working with LDAP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, and NFS -Strong experience working with Solaris OS and SUN Server hardware -Experience administering Veritas Foundation suit -Experience with System Administration for Solaris and RedHat as well as kernel tuning -SAN (EMC) administration (zoning, LUN masking, performance analysis) and synchronous replication (SRDF); Knowledge of EMC ECC or NaviSphere. Knowledge of CLARiiON and DMX/VMAX arrays -Good shell scripting skills: Perl/other programming/scripting languages Competency in the following is expected: NetApp NAS 5+ years Windows 5+ years Active Directory 3+ years VMWare 3+ years Linux 5+ years Solaris 5+ years EMC SAN 3+ years Assets (Nice to have) -Knowledge of RDBMS -Knowledge of VMS/Alpha -NetBackup infrastructure and administration -MQ Series skills -Experience working in a foreign country -Experience working a multi-technology environment: 3+ years -Experience working in a large, 7x24, investment banking environment: 5+ years -Ability to learn and adapt to new environments quickly
