Assistant Technical Director

Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Technical Director (CTO), this is a leadership role responsible for the overall technical operations of our company in Toronto office. This position will be directly responsible for the overall technical management of the following departments: PMO, Development, Quality Assurance, Systems, and Architecture in support of the company production site network.

The Assistant Director will work directly with Senior Management in planning and project discussions for our company, as well as ideas for increasing overall traffic and revenue for our company.

Relocation required. Company will provide work visas and cover any immigration costs for the right candidate.


Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and implementation of overall strategic and operational direction to the company’s technology planning.

• Analyze and assess areas of risk to systems and recommend/implement changes as appropriate to the business.

• Ensure that new technologies are properly analyzed and implemented as necessary.

• Help develop and implement strategic objectives and operating policies and procedures to ensure the attainment of corporate goals.

• Keeping infrastructure costs under control, suggesting areas of saving and following smart spending and purchase tracking processes.

• Help in engineering execution, schedule, budget, and strategic planning.

• Manage directly PMO, Development Manager, QA Manager, Systems Team Lead, and Architecture Team Lead for our company

• Ensure that work standards, processes and procedures are in place and effectively utilized by PMO< Development, QA, Systems and Architecture.

• Work with other cross-functional teams to ensure that purpose and vision are translated into clear team goals and objectives.

• Act as single point of escalation for interoffice issues, interfacing with required resources to see issues are resolved in a timely manner.

• Help develop and maintain company resources plan – assist in adapting these plans to changing market and budgetary conditions.

• Report on team deliverables, commitments, and milestone progress/completion.

• Effectively manage risk, including monitoring, system redundancy and backups based on business requirements and acceptable risk by developing action/execution plans to mitigate risks on critical path work.

• Supervise, coach, motivate and inspire team members to maintain healthy group dynamics while maintaining company directives and policies.

• Assist in recruiting, developing, and retaining technical talent.

• Perform outside technical consultation as directed by the CTO.

• Perform special tasks and projects company-wide, as assigned by the CTO.

• As a member of Senior Management, duties may be modified to meet specific business challenges.

• Other duties as assigned.
